Ovarian reserve tests: are they only a quantitative measure?
It is acknowledged that ovarian reserve tests could predict ovarian response during controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) (1). The most used markers to assess ovarian reserve are the estimation of antral follicle count (AFC) and antimüllerian hormone (AMH) levels. The former reflects the ultrasound-based evaluation of available antral follicles at the beginning of the menstrual cycle, whereas the latter reflects the pool of follicles during the gonadotropin-independent phase. Both markers present pros and cons.
